SQLEXPRess - network-related error

I just installed 10.0.24 with source and have upgraded my 9.5.1 DB to 10. When I try to startup vanilla 10.0.24 I get:

A network-related or instance-specific error occurred while establishing a connection to SQL Server. The server was not found or was not accessible. Verify that the instance name is correct and that SQL Server is configured to allow remote connections. (provider: Named Pipes Provider, error: 40 - Could not open a connection to SQL Server)
Source=.Net SqlClient Data Provider

I tried with both sql & windows autentication.

Trying to figure where I screwed up.

After multiple re-installs and web.config changes, this is now up and running.
